The web design and games design course have been given their group client projects and due to the fact I am the only Interactive Multimedia designer in my year group I am not taking part in a group client project, instead I have been given my own project suited towards my course discipline. This has its advantages and disadvantages but I want to approach this project almost as though I am working in a small group.
I have only been given a brief outline of my project at the moment and it is to develop a touch screen information kiosk for the Hull Independent Merchant Navy Association to highlight their role during the second world war. I am not exactly sure what interactivity and information is required as yet but after I meet the client I will add more information to this blog. I do know the kiosk will be used by the elderly and will have to make design considerations to meet the needs of the users.
I have put forward a suggestion to the client that I also make an online version of this application to place the information they are hoping to display and highlight in a more accessible location, the client likes this idea and I am going to produce two versions of this application for these purposes.
I want to approach this assignment working closely with my lecturer and the client almost as a small team to make sure I can create a product that suits and even exceeds the client and audiences requirements and needs.
I want to set up an account using the base camp software to give the client, my lecturer and myself a place to combine information, view development and work together to a successful outcome.
I am excited by this project and I feel it will fill me with a great sense of fulfilment upon its completion.
